On Wednesday, April 25, 2013, Mr. Donald Kent Brewington received
and accepted his job assignment as a Master Gardner in God’s Heavenly Garden. We are humbly thankful and blessed that God allowed us to share His magnificent gift for 25,525 precious days.
Affectionately known as “Bee”, Donald was born to Mrs. Helen
Kirby Scott and the late Mr. Walter Brewington on June 7, 1943 in
Wilmington, North Carolina. Bee was a graduate of the Williston
Industrial High School Class of 1962. He received his Professional
Meatcutting Certification from Cape Fear Technical College. Bee was
united in Holy Matrimony with Mrs. Doris Annette Harrison Brewington
for forty-seven years. Although, Bee and Doris nurtured and tenderly
loved two handsome sons and one beautiful daughter; Bee was
a father to so many in his family, extended family and community.
Bee, began his professional career as a Butcher with G & H
Groceries and retired in 1994 after more than thirty years of
dedicated and faithful service. His/ career spanned working for
Harris-Teeter, Food Lion and Sunkist Superette. After retirement, he
briefly operated “Bee’s Handyman Service”. Bee was an expert at
electrical work, carpentry, plumbing and automotive work.
He accepted Christ into his life and joined Mount Nebo Missionary
Baptist Church in Wilmington, North Carolina at an early age. Bee
was a lively person, full of humor and wit. His favorite pastime was
his garden. Blessed with a green thumb, he always believed that his
tomatoes and collards were the prettiest and most abundant in town!
Bee was always full of caring and compassion. Lending a helping hand
was second nature to him, which was why he never met a stranger
and always made sure that no one ever went hungry. In his final years,
Bee became a devoted caregiver to his wife and mother but now he
rests in the eternal care of the Master.
The memories of Bee will forever be engraved in the hearts of his
loving and devoted wife: Doris H. Brewington of the home; He also
